About us

Kilol

Kilol is derived from a Sanskrit word, which means ‘to play’. And, play on many levels, indeed Kilol does! Contained by no boundaries, Kilol plays around with delicate traditional designs to give them a modern interpretation. Also playing with conventional weaves, Kilol sources its fabrics directly from Maheshwar, Bengal, and other traditional weaving centers supporting and championing traditional Indian crafts. In this way Kilol brings together multiple crafts to create contemporary outfits that comfortably fit everyone's lifestyle.

Now

Kilol's retail chain currently comprises of 10 stores (see Showrooms). With our head office and production unit based in the heart of textile traditions - Jaipur (Rajasthan), we also have a wholesale department to cater to individual outlets and an export department to address worldwide demands. We employ hundreds of people around the country and locally in Jaipur, all of whom are involved in various stages of collaborating and making our products. Our in-house design development is something we are also very proud of. It enables us to stay in front of the crowd with our new and innovative block designs while adding to our extensive archives of beloved past designs.

Then

Kilol Fabrics Pvt. Ltd. was founded in the year 1986, when Mamta Mansingka took a non-descript garage in Indore (M.P.) and turned it into the start of a dream. With a single printing table and one kaarigar (printer), she turned that garage into a labour of love and created a new approach to Saree design. The fusion of hand-woven borders with hand block printed motifs gave Kilol its identity and thus began a journey of great creative skill and much will and determination.

Our USP

Promoting hand block printing, empowering craftspeople across India as well as upcoming designers who work in the field of craft and keeping our customers in style and comfort is our USP. With an ever-extending playfulness into the new world, Kilol gets its design strength by blending the old with the new. A dedicated, committed and a strongly united team is the greatest strength of Kilol.
